About JENSEN vocational university

Jensen Education is the biggest private education concern in Sweden providing education for over 13 000 people across everything from preschools to adult education. Their motto “Training for real life, education as a goal” permeates the business, aiming to provide the best education possible on all levels.

The polytechnic branch (Jensen yrkeshögskola) specializes in vocational training with offices based in Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö. Axel Skogberg is project manager for the branch, and he puts emphasis on the need to always be up-to-date regarding their classes.

“[We] develop contemporary educations along with companies to meet their needs. It’s everything from AI Developers, operations technicians and, as of now, even farriers. They’re current educations with a high market demand.”

The interactive video project

Video has always been an essential part of Jensens communication strategy, and looking for ways to stay on the forefront, interactive video caught their eye. Together with Qbrick Jensen and Axel started looking at how interactivity could benefit the company in their communication towards potential applicants.

“We had heard about interactive video in the past, what the prospect of it could be […] but this project had a real ‘wow’ factor to it, and something we believed could be really useful to us.”

Putting the two factors together resulted in an interactive counseling video where the viewer was given the freedom to browse through the Jensen catalogue learning more about each program. Aside from providing info and a better understanding about the various programs the video also offered direct links to the site of appliance and prerequisite classes. Axel believes this will help streamline the application process and encourage to explore different opportunities, a prospect well known to him.

“[This] interactive project is an extension of what we call the educational counseling, which is something I work with a lot […] there are so many options out there today and we work with individuals who might’ve lost their job or are just looking to switch careers.

A great response

Having first starred in the video and then watched it being put together, Axel is impressed with both the end product along with the production process.

“The collaboration with Qbrick has been terrific. It was an efficient process where we put together a finished product quickly and could put up an interactive video on our homepage in no time…”

The initial reactions to the video have been great and to Axel it’s really opened his eyes to the potential of interactive video. The non-destructiveness of Qbricks Interactive Manager provides the option to make tweaks to the video as the programs evolve over time. Similarly, the non-linearity opens up for providing additional content involving both students and partners.

An interactive future for JENSEN

“We want to make an even bigger video. We want to be able to answer more questions and offer better counseling […] Since we’re working with contemporary programs, we’re going to need to make changes in the video along the way […] We’d also like to involve our partners and management teams more, maybe offering interviews with current students and companies.”

In the long-term Jensen sees interactivity as an even more significant part of their counseling process. While not replacing human interactions completely, Axel believes that interactive video can be a good asset before someone reaches out, especially when it comes to displaying otherwise stale text-based info. Refining the concept of the current video is yet

another possibility, creating a viewer journey that funnels down to a recommendation based on the viewers answers.

“I believe our idea is that the [interactive video] will take over the website as a whole, becoming a guide providing information but also the personal touch which we value.”
