Denmark’s largest private broadcaster TV2 has chosen to expand the successful VoD Sputnik platform to mobile devices. First phase of this strategy is the launch of a new Sputnik application for iPad.
After surveying the market TV2 has chosen Qbrick to deliver the business critical streaming technology. The solution will enable TV2 to enter the attractive marketplace of Video on Demand for mobile devices, which is experiencing rapid growth.
Qbrick delivers the online video platform that handles transcoding, streaming and distribution of TV2’s content. The solution is developed in close cooperation with the mobile technology company Unwire, who has delivered the intelligent system around the video platform.
To secure the media delivery the solution is based on Qbrick’s market leading Content Delivery Network (CDN), which also serves broadcasters like Swedish Television and SBS.
“This is another important step for Qbrick. As we move into the media sector in Denmark we solidify our position as the preferred choice within the streaming industry in Northern Europe. We have high hopes for the development of TV2 Sputnik which easily can become the most advanced video platform in Europe”, says Qbrick CEO Eric Matsgård.
